The Vineyard

Scaddows Vineyard is located in the beautiful rolling hills of South Derbyshire on the A514 between Ticknall and Hartshorne. John and Ann Webster have been farming all their lives and moved to Ticknall in 1987 with daughter, Lizzie, and son, Tom. With a proud history of growing excellent soft fruit the family have diversified into viticulture and now have an established vineyard producing award winning wines.

The wines we offer are the product of many hours of hard work and attention to detail. The process starts in January with winter pruning to establish the best growing vines for the season. Whilst these vines grow and develop pruning continues into summer months to give the grapes the optimum level of sunshine and protection from the elements. As the grapes ripen and mature, frequent testing of their sugars and acidity dictate their precise harvest dates in October / November. Once harvested the grapes are transported to our wine maker where they are pressed and the juice undergoes fermentation. With regular tastings the wine is refined to give the finished products we are able to offer today!
